Alpine, Texas

This morning we walked to the east of the campground to the river.  We saw javelinas (peccaries, pig-like), jackrabbits, roadrunners, odd insects and birds.  We left camp at about 11 and drove to Alpine, about 130 miles.  We arrived at the Lost Alaskan RV park at about 2.  We had some rain while we were in town shopping but the sun quickly came out and the sky is still clear at 10.  We didn't get cell phone coverage until we got to Alpine.   I didn't get fuel this morning in the park because it was $3.35 a gallon.  I stopped in a picnic area on the way and added a couple of gallons from the extra fuel container we carry.  Probably could have made it but didn't want to run out on the road.  Filled up in Alpine at $3.01.  Fuel has been anywhere from $2.60 to $2.85 for the rest of the trip.  Diesel has typically been 20 to 30 cents less than regular.
