Annika's Graduation
Congratulations to our third grandchild, Annika, who graduated from Abington High School on Wednesday in a drive by ceremony. So sorry we could not be there. One more to go (next year). Mike sent plenty of pictures and included an 'Annika Shrine' file with pictures of Annika at all ages, wonderful. The Villages continues to open with distancing requirements, water volleyball will finally resume on Tuesday with strict requirements. The only things remaining are large public gatherings to include club meetings and town square entertainment. The rumor is that these will not open up until October. We are continuing with yard work, walking, platform tennis and golf and I get to the pools to swim laps. Been a bit of rain lately and the humidity is high so we finally turned on the A/C on the 8th and are limiting outdoor sports to an hour or so with lots of hydration. Playing paddle this morning and got rained out so we drove the golf cart a few miles up the road to the next rec center and continued to play, such is Florida weather. Had a great 73rd birthday on Thursday with plenty of Facebook well wishes as well as calls from all the family, kids and siblings. A great day. Alesa's vegetable garden is finishing up. We have more tomatoes than we know what to do with so she has removed all the socks and is letting the birds have their way. Peaches are done and we have eaten a lot of green beans. But as soon as the beans finished, the rabbits descended and totally stripped the plants of any leaves. We have our own version of "Watership Down". She is protecting her herbs and patiently fostering her squash. We have 4 TVs in the house but our main, 10 year old, one suddenly had vertical stripes through the picture. No big deal because it's not a smart TV and I have been wanting to replace it. So, we spent yesterday morning looking at new TVs. Whew, almost as bad as buying a new car. The bells and whistle dilemma. While moving a temporary TV in place, I noticed an HDMI port was loose on the circuit board. I took the TV apart, reseated all the cables and re-soldered the loose mounting connectors. The picture is great again. We'll keep looking and replace it when we find the right one or until it fails again. Be safe!
