AZ15- Flag Day

June 14, 2021

Started the day with a walk around the retention ponds and we saw a desert coyote. Took some quick pictures and it is in the distance to the right of the dumpster. Also took a few pictures of the water system. We then took a bike ride around the block, a larger block this time. Some of our ride was on the street side of the fence around the golf course we golfed last week so we found a half dozen more golf balls. I also ended up with two flat tires. There are many plants with small thorns in the area and if you run over one the hole is so small that the tire doesn't go flat for a couple of hours. I fixed them both this evening and installed a liner between the tube and the tire to provide extra protection against the small thorns. We'll see. We play water volleyball with beach balls and a favorite ball is a panda head ball. It has become a ritual and a requirement to shout "Panda Head" before serving that particular ball. Jeff had pork in the oven all day and shredded it and he, with Alesa helping/observing, made large burritos out of it with many other ingredients. They were replicating the excellent burritos we had at Barrio Queen the other night and did a very good job of it. Hit 113 degrees today. The Telegraph fire just 50 miles east of us continues to burn. It covers over 123,000 acres and is the 7th largest wildfire in Arizona history and should rise on that list. The winds are now coming from the East and the smoke is blowing over the valley. It is creating nice sunsets.
