AZ17- Smokey Sunset
June 16, 2021
Kept busy but not too busy. Investigated the retention ponds behind the house and discovered they are aquifer recharge facilities known as percolation basins. After wastewater is treated it is used for irrigation. Any leftover water is routed to a number of percolation basins around the area where it dries up or percolates down to recharge the upper aquifer. Fires are still burning to the east and the smoke is rising and passing over the valley. It is now the 6th largest fire in Arizona history. Alesa did go to the gym and played racquetball but I stayed back and did some walking. Tomorrow we will be golfing in the heat of the day so today was a quiet day. We did watch the end of White Christmas.
