Back to Erie

September 8, 2009

We left home at about 10 on Friday morning and arrived in Erie at about 4 in the afternoon with Alesa driving the whole way.  I spent the time playing with my Blackberry, to check emails, take pictures and videos, access the internet and to connect to the internet with the laptop.  All very cool while travelling on I80.  We got the trailer out of storage and set up at Lampe.  We had dinner with Bob and his whole family then off to the Whippy Dip for a black raspberry cone before coming back to the trailer to finish unpacking and collapsing for the night.  We tried hooking up Direct TV with no luck.   On Saturday I went to the library for internet and the Niagara sailing schedule. Tracy and family visited, walked the pier and watched the Niagara sail out and then we went back to Bob’s before shopping for the essentials such as pop, beer and chips.  Today we went to the German Heritage Days at St. Nick’s grove with Bob, Cathy and friends.  There was plenty of German food, beer, music, dancing and shopping.  Earlier, Don, a fellow camper from Texas, whom we had met on Friday, came over because he thought I was wearing out the steps walking between the TV and the dish so he helped us set it up.  We now have satellite TV.  Without local TV, I might add, because Directv doesn’t carry local channels for the Erie area.  That would explain why we see so many Dish dishes around the area.  Not to worry, we can pick up the local channels on the antenna.  Tonight I went over to Don’s trailer with a couple of beers and we talked about what a small world it is.
