Bamboo Thursday and the closing ceremony

August 13, 2009

Today is another hot, rainy day but it hasn't interfered with plans.  We made bamboo wind chimes from bamboo stalks brought from Uncle Craig & Janet's and wove little bamboo mats from the scraps.  We planned the final dinner (filet mignon on the grill and corn on the cob) and the closing ceremony.  We also made and ate little pizzas for lunch, ate the last of our chocolate, read, made a cake, made strawberry sorbet, worked on our journals and played like it was our last day together.  We had the closing ceremony tonight and it was totally written and performed by the grandkids.  Basically a recap of the last week with a lot of jumping, hopping and spinning.  We had an excellent dinner and then Nana and Papa were alone at last.  We were going to do the dance of joy as they drove away but neither of us had any energy left.  We had a great week, now to sleep for a week.
