Bed to Bench

January 29, 2016

The bed Alesa had when she was small has been kicking around the Niebauer family and finally ended up in our attic. Since it has been cold and rainy this week, yesterday was the perfect day to do a project I have been putting off; the conversion of that bed to a bench we can use in our dining room. Cut either side of the footboard and attached to the ends of the headboard. Then used the sideboards as the front. Still need to put the seat on and Alesa will order a pad. Eventually want to have the seat lift to a storage box but that can wait. Finally did get to golf with Bunnie Dawson and Jim, her high school classmate again. This time at the Torri Pines course at the Nancy Lopez country club. Jim and his wife rented for a month and will be leaving tomorrow for a few stops before heading back home to Erie. Also spoke with Ann and Ed who arrived yesterday. Our son Mike's close friend, Charlie, passed away from brain cancer in Mt. Dora last week and Mike flew down for the funeral. We hope to keep in touch with Charlie's family and help as needed. Mike's whole family planned to fly down on Saturday but the storm cancelled all flights and Mike was lucky to be able to find a flight for himself on Monday with a return on Wednesday. It was a sad time but we did get to see Mike at the funeral.
