Biosphere 2 and Mt. Lemmon

July 1, 2024

Last Sunday we took a road trip to see Mt Lemmon, a ski resort on top of a mountain just north of Tucson. Bailey's friends had mentioned it to him, so he went with us. We drove through the desert on back roads to the southeast of town. We had not been that way before and I wanted to see Biosphere 2 just northeast of Mt Lemmon. It was very interesting but we did not go on the tour because we didn't have the time. We could have gone up the backside of the mountain to the ski resort but that included 25 miles of dirt road so we opted to drive around the west side of the mountain through Tucson for better roads. It was the same time according to google. The road up the mountain switched back and forth with scenic views at every turn. We did not stop on the way up and left the desert and reached to forest at about 5,000 feet. The ski resort was about 9,000 feet and we enjoyed the 70 degrees after leaving 100 degrees in Tucson. It is a small resort and the lift was running to take people to the summit at 9,175 feet. We made a number of stops on the way down to admire the hoodoos and the views of the valley. We took I-10 home and drove through Eloy as Alesa wanted to see it as it is the town closest to Robson ranch. She was very disappointed. It was a great day and we greatly enjoyed Bailey's company. We continue to bike and go to the gym almost daily. I am forwarding records to the neurosurgeon before my appointment so he is a better position to make recommendations.
