Bloom and pool crack

April 11, 2025

Finally got some blooms on the cactus planted in our front yard last year and it is very pretty, almost a neon red but they each only last for the day. We are hoping to get out in the desert to see it in bloom if we can figure when that is. We found a crack in the pebble tec on the top step of our pool and decided to have it repaired before it got any worse or created more damage. On Wednesday they put in a pump to drain the pool which shut itself off once the pool was drained. Since it is a salt pool, they drained it into the sewer cleanout in the front yard. They came back on Thursday and chipped the coating off the whole top of the step and reapplied the pebble tec coating. We were happy that the concrete step itself wasn't compromised. We started to refill the pool just before noon and turned the hoses off around 7 because I didn't want to overflow the pool overnight. Also stopped just before the water reached the repair area to give it extra time to set even though they said it would set enough by the time the water reached it. Finished filling the pool this morning and added the salt so we are back to normal. Just in time as the heat is supposed to reach 100 for at least the next few days. Alesa and I continue to do very well after our surgeries and are both doing PT to regain strength and agility. Neither of us is affected too much for normal activities. Alesa can even reach the top of her head to tie up a ponytail, a huge milestone. I am not supposed to golf until after April and Alesa will be sidelined from golf for a while although we both have gone to the course to chip and putt with Jeff. Looking forward to our son Mike's arrival next week to spend Easter with us.
