Busy, busy

July 8, 2020

Golfing at least 3 times, water volleyball 10 times and platform tennis 3 or 4 times keeps our weeks pretty busy. Have had a lot of storms pass through recently but they only last about 15 or 20 minutes and, so far, have left our play times alone. Very strong winds and rain during some of the storms with quite a few palm fronds down. The winds were stronger than the last hurricane but they were not sustained so no damage. We drove through a downpour and flooded paths to a volleyball session but it cleared by the time we arrived. Such is Florida weather in the summer. The Maloneys moved back to Erie last month and have sold their house with the closing late this month. During a thunderstorm a few days ago lightning struck a water main and ruptured a weak spot under their driveway causing quite a flood. There was no damage to the house. We checked it out yesterday and the water company has repaired the line and will repair the driveway. Shouldn't affect the sale. Bought a 65" TV the other day so our entertainment is back to normal. Very happy because we got everything we wanted and paid half of what we were expecting. Last month we had a storm which eroded a little 'ravine' between the houses beside the road. We filled it in and put pavers over the area at risk and are quite happy with the results during the recent storms as the water runs over the pavers and curb and into a storm drain.
