We have reservation for the Cedar Island -  Ocracoke ferry for Saturday morning so we wanted to get as close as we could.  We drove by Camp Lejeune, Cape Fear and out on the peninsula to Cedar Island.  We are staying in the Cedar Creek Campground and Marina in the town of Sea Level about 15 miles from the ferry.  The trip was all back roads so it has been a long day.  The campground is more of a fishing camp and is almost empty because it is off season.  It has what we need to camp but not much more.  We can see the barrier islands a ways offshore.
