Chateau Gaillard

October 22, 2021

Sailed in the morning and docked in the town of Les Andelys. The Chateau Gaillard is located there and was build by Richard the Lionheart as the first line of defense to prevent an invasion by the French. At that time Normandy was part of England. The castle is high above the town and we hiked up some steep paths for great views of the town and the river. The river snakes back and forth through the countryside on it's way to the English Channel and that is easy to see from the castle. Steve and I did the hike while Alesa and Laura walked the town and then back to the ship for tea time. We will sail to Paris this evening.
