Christmas Tree

December 22, 2021

Two busy days in Abington. Yesterday we went to Best Buy to look at Kindles as Alesa's is getting old and fading and we wanted to get a better idea of what was available. We got a good idea of what models were available but they had none in stock. We went into Jenkintown to Olive Lucy's to buy a few bottles of flavored olive oil for gifts and our use. We stopped at Target on the way back to see what Kindles they had. We were introduced to the Kindle Fire which is a tablet with the functionality of a Kindle. That Target is a two-story store with escalators for people plus separate escalators for shopping carts. We then decided she should get the Kindle Signature since it does the best job for what she wants - reading books. We then went to dinner with the Schweds and Ann Goodman, our first visit with her since Bob passed away. Today we found out that Elyse had been exposed to Covid at Penn State, so she was being tested before coming home. Later today she tested positive by the rapid test and is awaiting the results from her PCR test. She expects that test will be positive as well, so she is quarantining in her apartment for 10 days and will not make it home for Christmas but expects to be home by New Years. We facetimed with her this evening and she looks good but very bored. She only has a slight sore throat and is the only one left in the apartment. She has already told her friends and apartment mates who have gone home and they are being tested. We will be passing through State College on our way to Erie on the 26th so we will visit at a distance and drop off gifts and supplies. Santa Claus is coming to town! This afternoon we visited Annika at Whole Foods and her job as a cake decorator. Then Mike took us out to his farm to see the progress he has made, clean out bird nesting boxes and load firewood. Then after dinner, Alesa, Michael and Lisa created a unique Christmas tree out of a floor to ceiling pole.
