We drove into Cortez this morning planning a quiet day.  But, when we saw the big map on the visitors' center wall off we went.   We went northeast through Dolores and Telluride to Ridgway.  Then down through Ouray and Silverton to Durango and then back to Mesa Verde.  We went up and down through the mountain passes up to 11,018 feet.  Whenever there was snow on the mountains, and there was plenty, there were ski tracks both alpine and nordic.  The views were spectacular and the towns were rustic.  The day was long but it was the Colorado we remember.  The ski resort between Mesa Verde and Durango is for sale.  'A' wants to buy it and call it Ski Daddle.
