Computer crash keeps us busy

October 1, 2010

Last Sunday we were not able to power up our laptop so we started up our old desktop to maintain an internet connection. The failure of the WiFi card a few months ago signaled the pending failure of the motherboard so on Monday we bought a new notebook as well as a hard drive enclosure which enabled us to recover all current data from the laptop hard drive. After reloading the quicken software from the internet we were back in business. On Tuesday Alesa got her flu shot from the county health department while I will wait until my next VA appointment. That evening we went to dinner at the Schwed’s. Wednesday we took the train to downtown Philadelphia to attend a financial luncheon which was attended by Bob Goodman as well. We have spent the last two nights ‘Skype’ing with Jeff and the kids. We have a camera but the built in camera in the new notebook makes it easier and we expect to be skypeing with Mike and kids as well tonight. Our Skype contact is 'jerryalesa'. Yesterday Alesa took the train back to Philadelphia to attend the Cleopatra exhibition with Diane Dougherty at the Franklin Museum. There was an interesting article in the Wednesday Philadelphia Inquirer about Leukemia research which can be viewed with the following link.
