Craig, Janet and The Villages

July 31, 2024

Craig and Janet picked us up at the Tamp airport on Friday and we are staying with them. Saturday, we all went up to The Villages to attend Mike's (our across-the-street neighbor) surprise 85th birthday party. Many of our old neighbors were there along with many of his out-of-town family and friends. His four daughters had the event, and he was certainly surprised. Probably not the best idea for an 85-year-old. We had a great time visiting and then went back to his house to see the old neighborhood and house. We also had an opportunity to stop in to see my cousin Paul and his wife Carol. We were happy to have Craig and Janet with us as they were invited and knew most of the people from their visits to the Villages. Back at Craig and Janet's we had a good visit and did some shopping at the outlets. We watched some Olympics and Zach, Cathy and their boys came over for dinner on Sunday. They also came back on Monday because Alesa and Craig cooked a leg of lamb for dinner. It was very good and I love watching them fight like brother and sister and leave me be. Janet and I both limped during our visit because of Janet's knee and my legs (spinal stenosis). I had a steroid shot in my back the day before we left but it will take two weeks to have any effect (if any) and I still wait for a call from my neurosurgeon for an appointment. (I called today to follow up.) We also heard today that Janet is scheduled for a knee replacement on the13th. We flew back yesterday and had a close connection in Charlotte and our Tampa flight was delayed so we deplaned and joined the boarding process across the hall already in process. We made it back to Phoenix on schedule. After a good night's sleep Alesa cleaned and did laundry while I cleaned the pool. There was a bad storm while we were gone and there was plenty of dirt in the pool. After grocery shopping, we are now settled in back home. Can't thank Craig and Janet enough for their hospitality. Janet, good luck with your surgery, I am sure it will be fine❤️.
