Dorian

August 31, 2019

Left Jeff's around 10 PM on the 27th to catch a 12:50 flight to Dallas-Fort Worth. Jeff drove us and we went a little early so he could get home and rest before he had to catch a 7:30 flight the next morning. Turns out we had TSA PrePass on our tickets so security was a breeze. We had a 2 hour layover in Texas and arrived in Orlando at around 10 AM. Needless to say the red-eye flights were very tiring so we got our car at ParkNGo and headed home for recuperation. On the way to the car our shuttle driver filled us in on the approaching Dorian. Played four hours of water volleyball on Thursday. After a week of playing with a beachball, a real volleyball felt like hitting a rock but we adjusted quickly. We have been preparing for Dorian by waiting in a short line to top off the gas tank and setting water and ice aside. Currently it is forecasted to remain at sea and pass us by but we will prepare anyways. The Villages has already closed outdoor facilities to prepare and we have a 9:26 tee time in the morning, just before the 10 AM cut off. They have been running irrigation 24/7 over the last 4 weeks or so to keep the ponds down to prevent flooding. We are keeping a wary eye and preparing for the worst even though it is not expected.
