DPI Weekend
This was Discover Presque Isle weekend so it was crowded in the campground. We did have a couple of strong thunderstorms pass through with high winds and buckets of rain which kept a few people away. There was even a reported funnel cloud up on I-90 and a bit of storm damage across the border in NY. Yesterday we went with the Crawfords and the Browns to the Rotary Club pancake breakfast at Water Works on the peninsula. The breakfast was good and we walked among the many vendors set up in the park. I wanted to check out the reported funnel cakes but many of the food court tents were in 4 inch puddles so we limited ourselves to the dry ones. There was a light rain falling and we overheard many times, in true Erie-ite style, "At least it's not as hot as it has been". That afternoon we had lunch with Mary Teemly and her daughter Allison at Barbato's in Wesleyville. They drove in from Ripley to visit before they flew off to Germany for Mary's month long visit with Allison and her family. She was in town for her 20th HS reunion. On Saturday night we had gone over to Bob and Cathy's for a dinner hosted by Paul and his girlfriend, Sara. The WDFOTW is Orange Sherbert. Today, Alesa went to lunch with Caitlin at the Jamaican restaurant, which is closed on Mondays so they went to Casablanca Grill for Syrian food. I rode the bike around downtown and enjoyed sitting in Perry Square watching the world go by. It is the 20th anniversary of the passing of the Disabilities Act so there was a rally at the square. There was a lot happening at lunch time and it was fun to watch. The tracks are across the bayfront highway and the road is repaved so it should reopen on Thursday or Friday.
