Gardening

April 17, 2020

Monday we cleaned house and then bought about 5 pounds of jellybeans in search of the black ones which we never found. People must be hoarding them. Tuesday we painted the back hall and set up payment for our two week France Viking cruise in October . We booked through AAA in Bangor, ME. We also received our stimulus money. Wednesday I mowed the lawn for Alesa's compost pile and pulled out the peas while she worked on her garden. That evening we had just about 3 inches of much needed rain. We are hiking, I continue to do research on Ancestry and Alesa tends her garden and cooks, mostly baking but today she is making homemade bratwurst. We will have some for lunch before heading out on a long golf cart ride. We may stop at friends and do some social distance visiting. The lemons are coming along well, the peaches are turning red, the tomatoes are growing out of sight, the herbs and peppers are well and the squash and beans are up and growing. Still working on a plan as to where the squash will be vining. Transplanted three wisteria shoots in a pot and they are all budding and growing. Alesa is sending a "Ladies of Letters" email once a week to a group of friends to keep busy and in touch. FYI: "Ladies of Letters" is an Acorn show which she enjoys.
