Gilbert Day 22 + Home

December 9, 2021

Took a last picture of my view outside from the table behind the couch where I worked on the computer. We left for the airport with Jeff and Danielle at 9. We parked and checked our bags then went to Jeff's gate in terminal A as they were leaving an hour or so before us. We saw them off then hiked over to terminal C for our flight. We had purchased early bird check-in so we boarded early in the process but still went to the back of the plane for two aisle seats. They said the flight was full, but no one sat in either of our middle seats, so the flight was relatively comfortable. Plus, it was a Boeing 747-800 which has a little more legroom. The flight to New Orleans was uneventful, Alesa read, and I watched movies and TV for the almost 3-hour flight. We had an hour or so connection, so we scurried around to Chick-fil-A and Cafe Du Monde for something to eat. Turns out, our plane was late getting in which delayed our boarding for more than a half an hour. We finally boarded and taxied out to the runway but then, we kept taxiing and a flight attendant was standing in the aisle toward the front of the plane. Turns out there was trouble with a passenger, and we went back to a gate for him to be escorted off by the police. alter paperwork and topping off we were finally off to Tampa about 80 minutes late but landed in Tampa only 50 minutes late. Craig had been following our situation and he and Janet picked us up and, after a short visit, we headed home. After some minor unpacking Alesa went to bed and I stayed up to read some mail I had been expecting. Just before heading to bed, my phone reminded me of a launch from the cape, so I stayed up a few more minutes to watch it over the houses. Then I slept like a baby. Ate breakfast at First Watch this morning then did a lot of shopping. We are hosting a couple of dinners before we leave so there was a bit of shopping to be done. We are almost all caught up with things.
