Goodbye Grand Lake

August 4, 2007

Today we left Grand Lake Stream and are camped outside Bangor at the Pumpkin Patch RV resort. It is a nice place so we will be here for two nights.  We went to Sam's this afternoon to stock up the trailer and they had Wii's so we bought one.  It will be a nice diversion to fill in free time if we ever have any.  Alesa & Laura refinished a three piece buffet, a table and a bench.  They worked hard in the heat and they all look very nice.  We spent the last three days floating in the lake because it has been so hot.  Above 90 every day for about the last week.  They did kill two odd looking snakes in Big Lake in June  That is the lake that the stream feeds into.  But that did not keep us out of the water.  Last night we went to dinner at Art and Sally's and watched a thunderstorm roll across the lake.  It was a tremendous light show and a refreshing change with a breeze and some rain.  Everyone has been so nice during our visit.  They would give you the shirt off of their back if you needed it.  Actually they would give you the shirt if they thought it would make you feel good.  The blues/jazz group which played at the local festival caught a rock in their oil pan and had to be towed back to town and are waiting for parts.  They are from NYC with a local boy playing trumpet.  They held a session in the town hall to keep busy and to help pay for the repairs.  They played, talked and sang for a few hours.  They were a trumpet, a clarinet, a lead guitar and a little girl with a strong voice.  It was quite an experience.
