We are in the monsoon season so dust storms and rain are not uncommon. Today we had a haboob which is a sudden and intense dust storm. It was followed by some heavy rain. It was not as bad as it looked on the internet because it is just a storm rolling in and picking up a lot of dust in front of it. The scary part is that we usually get only a few minutes warning whereas in Florida we got two weeks warning. We get warnings on our phones and Alexa so we head out to take down the umbrellas and stow anything loose. In the valley you can see it from a long way off so just waiting for it can be the scary part. In our neighborhood we are surrounded by homes so you don't really see the wall of dust coming for very long, just dark clouds. In this case we got the dust, the wind, and the rain. The dust didn't seem like much except it settled on the bottom and sidewalls of the pool. It was quite windy but we were prepared. The rain was heavy and with the wind being from the South our patio was flooded but no damage done as it receded quickly.
