Jeff and family came over for the 4th for a picnic and pool party. All except Bailey who flew to Wisconsin to visit a friend over the holiday. We had a great day and I went to Jeff's in the PM to watch the Gilbert fireworks from his backyard. The fireworks were preceded by a very nice drone show which we couldn't fully appreciate since we had a side view. I bought an e-bike so now Alesa and I both have one and it makes biking so much easier in the heat. Mainly, we don't have to worry about running out of steam far from home so we can attempt longer rides. They have extended the wash trail we usually ride to 6 miles and it now connects to many new opportunities to explore. We also both have camelbacks to stay hydrated in the heat and we jump in the pool after every ride. Our son Mike had stomach pains a few days ago and was admitted to the hospital with diverticulitis. They could not get it under control so they operated yesterday and removed a few inches of his colon. We facetimed with him this morning and he's looking good, in high spirits and the surgeon said the surgery was a total success. We feel so bad that we can't be there for him but he keeps us up to date. He should be going home the middle of next week. We are/were planning to fly to Fl on the 23rd then to Pa on the 1st but things are up in the air until we get some timing/resolution with my spinal stenosis. Jeff is still working us out hard at the gym and our pool continues to be a lifesaver in this heat.
