Hiking to finish off January

January 31, 2022

Alesa had her second cataract surgery on Wednesday and everything went well. She is very happy with the results now that both eyes are done. She can read without glasses and should be back to normal activity in a week or so. My shoulder is feeling a little better and I hope to be back to normal activity as well. In the meantime we have been doing a bit of hiking. Lake Griffin on Friday and Lake Okahumpka today. I watched a Falcon 9 launch this evening and it launched almost straight up so I could see the rocket exhaust, saw the first stage separate and the second stage fly into space. I even saw the first stage reentry burn as it returned to the Cape for a landing. We had a hard freeze on Saturday and Sunday nights. But it warmed up fairly quickly as we golfed in 60 degree weather on Sunday at noon and hiked in 70 degree weather this afternoon. Sunny skies and low wind helps it at least feel warm. Should be in the 80s later this week. Planning on replacing the carpet in the house with laminate flooring so we have been out shopping and bringing home samples. Was planning to do 2 of the 3 bedrooms but will probably do all 3 plus our closet to totally remove all carpeting. Also made my regular call to Sirius/XM before our subscription renewed at an increase to $23/month. Negotiated back down to the plan I had last year for $6/month. So, we are good for another year.
