Irma la Deux
Walked around but didn't drive yesterday to let the crews clean up. Today we drove around in the golf cart and there is water and downed palm fronds everywhere. Still impressed by the fact that all of the flooding occurred on the prairies, golf courses and preserve areas; a testament to good planning to protect the homes. Many of the fairways are lakes with the sand traps being eroded beaches and the courses will not be playable for at least a week. A few trees down and some of the golf cart tunnels are flooded but we were able to pick our way through and get where we wanted to go. Except the 'historic' district north of Rt. 441 because the only access is across the golf cart bridge and the approaches on both ends are flooded. Everyone we know escaped damage but there are a few shingles lost and screens torn but we didn't see anything more serious. Most retail stores are still closed but everything should be open by tomorrow. Had another AED alert this morning so we picked up an AED unit and headed to the address. We had heard sirens before we received the alert so the paramedics beat us there and all the responders just turned around. Don't know the results of the call.
