July Fourth in Erie

July 9, 2009

On July 1st we loaded the truck with a final load for the trailer which included things we needed at home until we left, perishables and last minute decisions.  We went to the trailer, hooked up and headed out.  We drove to the Buttonwood Campground in Mexico, Pa.   It’s in the mountains on the Juniata River just east of Lewistown.  We set up, transferred the things from the truck, straightened up and then drove to Walmart to buy pillows as replacements for the ones left at home.  Thursday morning we took a leisurely drive to the Family Affair campground just outside of North East, Pa.   We then drove into Erie for food shopping, a Whippy Dip visit for a Blue Moon ice cream cone and then visited ‘Bob, the brother’ and family.  On Friday, as we were dressing to go to the funeral parlor for Janet’s dad, we received a call from Tracy as she was leaving the funeral.  We had gotten bad information and missed the funeral so we headed to Meeder’s in Ripley to join the family for the lunch after.  It was good to see family and friends and to see that Mr. Cochrane’s family was doing well.  On the Fourth we went to Janet’s niece’s (Sara) house for a get together then off to Chautauqua for the preliminaries to the Niebauer Reunion.
