Klamath, California

September 4, 2007

We are on the Pacific coast in Northern California at the Klamath River RV park.  We are right on the river less than a mile from the ocean.  Most of the campers are here for the Chinook salmon fishing.  They started running the middle of last month but the fishing has not been very good because the ever changing spit at the mouth of the river is very large this year and not many salmon are making it over the shallow sandbar.  Most of them that do make it get caught by the many indians who are fishing with large nets at the mouth of the river.  It is their land.  We drove through some of the Redwood National Forest on the way to the coast and the trees are very impressive; so large, tall and straight.  Tomorrow we will tour the park.  Alesa wanted to share the picture of the leashed cat with the leopard skin thong.  She has seen it all and is ready to come home.  We will be headed East the day after tomorrow.  ( There is no more west left)
