LA Griffith Observatory

December 12, 2024

Today was the start of Alesa’s birthday weekend in Southern California with Jeff as our guide since he spends a lot of time there on business. This morning, Alesa, Jeff, Danielle and I flew from Phoenix to the Bob Hope airport in Burbank. Jeff rented a car, as he was to be our driver, and we headed off on our adventure. We stopped first at the Hollywood bowl before moving on to the Griffith Observatory for a hike. And quite a hike it was as we switched back and forth to the top of the peak. It was a 5.5 mile hike with an elevation gain of about 850 feet. It was a good hike with great views of LA, the HOLLYWOOD sign and the surrounding area. I was pleased to be able to do the whole hike although at the end my walk was more like a shuffle. No more walking for the day and Jeff drove us around LA a bit pointing out famous spots and filming sights. We stumbled upon Pink’s, a famous hot dog place, and we had to have one before heading to Agoura Hills and our hotel room. We had some concern because it is just inland from Malibu and the fires there but they did not affect us at all. It was a great day of adventure, discovery and fun with lots of laughter.
