Labor Day 2010

September 6, 2010

Pictures are back and I am experimenting.  Today begins our last week in Erie for this summer.  It has been an outstanding time so it will be a bittersweet departure.  Friday night we went to visit Bob and Cathy and waded through the Prep/McDowell football traffic.  The game was suspended in the 2nd quarter because they lost power at the stadium.  They resumed at 9 the next morning but Prep lost.  On Saturday it was windy, windy, windy so we visited the Maritime Museum and toured the Niagara.  We had joined the Niagara League before the Niagara came home and were waiting until it was in port.  I used to play on the Niagara as a kid when it was landbound on State Street and it was awesome to see the old playspaces (holds and decks) outfitted for use.  That evening we had a perch dinner at Joe Roots.  Yesterday, Bob and Cathy came down for chicken and dumplings.  While they were here, a Dutch couple who were cycling from Montreal to Birmingham visiting grandkids checked in so we invited them over to eat the leftover chicken and dumplings.  We all had an interesting visit.
