Mary R. Hulvey R.I.P.

Alesa's cousin on her mother's side whom we visited near Harrisonburg, Va. when we traveled. Alesa lived with her and her family for a while after high school.

Mary R. Hulvey, 96, of McGaheysville, was escorted by Gabriel to heaven on Friday May 20, 2016, surrounded by family at her home.
Mrs. Hulvey was born April 7, 1920, in Elkton and was the daughter of the late Luther C. and Nora Michael Rimel.
She was a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church and worked as an assistant to the Rockingham County registrar for many years. She enjoyed genealogy, collecting antiques, and was a competitive card player.
On April 10, 1943, she married her husband of 29 years, Stanley Hulvey, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded by a daughter, Ellen Sue Woodward, and two brothers, Owen Rimel and Ramond Rimel.
She is survived by her son, Mike Hulvey and wife Ruth of Cross Keys; two daughters, Mary Jo Evans and husband, Lynn, of McGaheysville and Sharon Almquist of Nashua, N.H.; two sisters, Arliss Magalis and Cara Jean Comer; five grandchildren, Robert Evans and wife, Carly, Megan Evans, Rachel Hulvey, Allison Hulvey and Jenna Almquist.
A funeral service will be held Monday, May 23, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church with Pastor Rick Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
