Mel's Diner
Alesa had her last PT on the 30th but she will continue the exercises and much more as we go to the gym. Her doctor has said that she is way ahead of schedule but that it will still take a year to fully recover. Her range of motion is still somewhat limited and she will continue to see her surgeon about every 6 weeks. I am fully recovered from my surgery but still need x-rays every 3 months to check on the hardware. While the surgery was done through the VA with Community Care, they have picked up my ongoing care. They did the April x-ray and I went to the Phoenix VA on the 1st to review the results with a spine orthopedic doctor. Everything looked good but I complained about some continuing leg pain so she will schedule an MRI of my S1 joint. I also picked up a CD of the x-ray and dropped it off to my surgeon. I have heard from him and everything looks fine. If the upcoming MRI shows a problem the VA will send me back to the same neurosurgeon. We liked him and the hospital very much (Alesa included). While we were in Phoenix we decided to have lunch at mel's diner, where they filmed the opening of the series (Alice). The food was good and the people very friendly; Alesa enjoyed her meal, especially her pancakes but she calls it a dive. Mike fell on his one-wheel the other day and hurt his shoulder and we were very concerned, especially Alesa given her recent surgery and recovery. He saw an orthopedic yesterday and texted us the results so we called him to get an update. He has a grade 3 strain of the ligament connecting the clavicle to the acromium and will not require surgery (whew). A grade 3 strain is a partial tear and he will rest and recover before starting some PT. He feels a lot better just knowing what it is, and we do as well.
