Mirrors & Bridget's weekend

May 15, 2009

Our living room and dining room both have a full wall of mirrors on their north walls.  One of the mirrors in the dining room was cracked and we have been trying to figure a way to repair or disguise it with no success.  It was felt that mirrored walls were old fashioned so it was decided they must go to make the house more sellable.  After a bit of investigation, numerous plans A, B , etc. , many safety precautions and some experimentation we found that with very careful prying the mirrors would pop off the wall and only pull away the first layer of paper on the drywall at the glue points.  A little spackle and paint and they will be as good as new.  We were very happy to see what good condition the walls were in but very surprised at how different the room looked without the mirrors.  We knew it would be different but it used to be like walking into a large, bright hall and now its like walking into a dimly lit closet.  We have decided to wait a while before doing the front room until we get used to it.

Bridget came over tonight for her 'birthday weekend with Nana & Papa'.  She announced she brought her bathing suit  for the hot tub, tried on all the clothes from Lisa that her girls outgrew, called to tell her family about the sparkly shoes, had an ice cream sundae and watched Christmas movies in her room until very late.   Any survivors will post the particulars of the weekend.
