Mother's day at Mission San Xavier del Bac

May 13, 2007

Today we went to an old (1636) mission out in the desert south of Tucson. As is our way, we took a roundabout way to see more sights, both expected and unexpected. We drove by Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and discovered that it is where the government puts all of its old, unused planes which is called the "boneyard". I appreciate Alesa taking time out of her mother's day to let me drive around the perimeter. We made it to the mission in time to attend 11:00 mass and afterwards we toured the mission and its grounds. We then took another roundabout drive to northern Tucson to go to Sam's club. We passed a "der Weinerschnitzel' and had to eat lunch because we used to eat there often when we lived in El Paso. From Sam's we drove canyon roads before heading back to the resort. We went to the pool for exercise and then cooked steaks, salmon and chicken on the grill for dinner. I then washed the truck and the trailer for first time while Alesa watched TV and missed her 'babies' on Mother's day.
