To the Mountains
In addition to normal activities, most of this week was busy preparing for our trip to the mountains of North Carolina for Thanksgiving week. We rented a house about 40 miles SW of Ashville with Mike and his family and the Abbates. We left home about 7 AM today and arrived around 4 PM after a good trip except for the heavy traffic around Atlanta. Mike and family arrived around 5 after a stop at Virginia Tech for lunch and, apparently, searching for a Hokie. The Abbates, coming from Mount Dora got caught in a couple of traffic jams due to accidents and arrived around around 9. Didn't envy them on the windy mountain roads after dark as well as the very steep dirt driveway. We are all looking forward to a great week, 5 adults and 6 kids but none under 13. On Tuesday night we had dinner with the Carullos . They are back from Erie for the winter. On Thursday night we went to Mount Dora with the Maloneys to visit another Prep classmate, Bill Coleman and his wife Dee. I also went to Sacred Heart school with Bill. After catching up on old times we all went to downtown Mt. Dora for a gourmet truck event with about a dozen food trucks in Sunset Park.
