Old Friends

January 27, 2023

Got to sleep in a little bit yesterday. We drove into King of Prussia and stopped at the Verizon store. My new phone has not been able to text images and having done all the normal troubleshooting I went to the web. Indications were that it may be a bad SIM card. At Verizon they replaced my SIM card and, Voila, all is working. We had lunch with Ken and Sue Schwed and Ann Goodman and it was very nice to catch up. After lunch we drove to Abington for a short visit with Lisa then back to Mike's. Rush hour traffic did not make the trip easy. Been trying to get Mike to restaurants in town that he has been wanting to try so last night it was Van Horns with an Italian/Louisiana menu. We had very good meals. Walked back to Mike's to say our goodbyes and that we hoped to see him again soon. He said, "sooner than you think" because he and Alice will be flying to Florida to celebrate a birthday and visit friends and would be staying with us on Friday. Yahoo, we will be looking forward to that. It has been a very nice visit with Mike and family, exhausting but very rewarding. We visited Phoenixville a lot when we lived in Exton, Alesa worked there for a while. We are extremely impressed with the progress the town has made with all the new residential apartments on the site of the old Phoenix Iron Works as well as the revitalization of the downtown area. Drove back to Allentown from the motel this morning and flew back to Sanford. Security at the Lehigh Valley airport was a breeze as we took full advantage of our TSA precheck. We also found out that with Allegient, veterans and their travel companions get priority boarding so we took advantage of that. Veterans also get two free checked bags and carry-ons so I will be requesting a refund for the carry-on and checked bags that I had paid for. The flight was a lot safer than the drive home with all the crazy drivers we encountered, anyways, we are home safe.
