Oslo to Copenhagen

October 29, 2018

Woke up late and had a large, leisurely breakfast and fixed sandwiches for lunch. Rode the tram to the central station and toured the opera house. Walked down to our ferry and checked it but had time before a 4:30 departure. It is a cruise ship. We walked back into the city center and toured the fortress before returning to the ship for rest and warmth. The fortress is still an active base and there is always one soldier on guard on the top of the hill, mostly for show. As we came below him I stopped, turned to face him, came to attention and saluted. He returned my salute, really cool. It snowed for a while but cleared quickly. We boarded our ship and sat in the lounge and had coffee until our cabin was ready. It is small but very efficient. Four bunks but we kept the top two stowed. We have a full bath. We sat in the aftmost lounge(Columbus) with a view and had drinks as we sailed out of Oslo. Alesa went to bed and read and I toured the ship. They have a coffee shop, a large tax free shop, three restaurants, plus a buffet, five bars, a night club, two kids playrooms, a pool, a spa, a day spa and a conference center. They were all busy. We bought some Dutch licorice and some Tulimore Dew in the tax free shop. Time to test the bunks.
