Our June, so far

June 24, 2008

Even with my hip problem we have been relatively active since our last posting in May although I need to spend less time in the house.  We went to Jeff's for a Memorial Day picnic and the next week to Bridget's pre-school graduation.  Alesa works out every morning and then works outside for much of the day.  She has built some very nice flower, fairy and vegetable gardens.  I have been trimming the trees and chipping/shredding the branches into mulch.  We power washed the deck and the picket fence.  The fence is almost repainted but the deck may take a little longer.  Both Mike and Jeff and their families visited the weekend before my birthday, albeit at different times.  That did let Nana focus more on the grandkids in the garden while they were here.  They have all been building fairy houses.  They were all over again the next weekend for Fathers' Day.  Jeff on Saturday with a Wii-Fit for me which we have been using to keep ourselves active and fit, especially Alesa who has incorporated it into her daily workout.  Now I can be virtually outside even when I am inside.  Alesa will take any movement of me she can get.  Mike on Sunday bearing a dinner of real hamburgers vs. our regular fare of turkey-burgers.  He cooked them on the grill and left the leftovers for the rest of the week.  Annika stayed for an extra day for her birthday weekend because her birthday was in February and we weren't home.  She was able to build her fairy house, the last one in the fairy subdivision.  She also built a fairy school complete with a jungle gym (There go the taxes).  We picked up our new recliner and took Annika home on Monday.   We are now getting ready to head off to Erie for the 4th of July.  Actually we will be there on the 27th and back home on the 30th.  Caitlin's graduation party is on the 28th and Tracy is having a Niebauer mini-reunion on the 29th.  Mike and Jeff and families are going as well and we are looking forward to a great time.  Jeff is coming back late on Monday but Mike is staying through the 4th. That is his summer vacation time and they have a lot of activities planned to include a trip to Niagara Falls.  We would love to stay but I have to be back for my weekly PICC line dressing change, blood test and IV prescription refill.  My hip is still draining but it is lessening and we continue to be hopeful.
