Pilot Mountain

February 23, 2012

Yesterday as we were coming down from the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia we could see a large valley off in the distance with a large mountain in the middle of it. It is called Pilot Mountain and it is a place we wanted to visit during our stop here. Nasty weather is forecast for the south over the next few days so we spent some time watching the weather this morning to decide when to travel. We didn't change our plans and went into Winston-Salem today and stopped at Pilot Mountain State Park on the way back. We then rewarded ourselves with a lunch buffet at the Golden Corral. We are now sitting in the warm sun watching the world go by. Later we will hike to the grave of the famous conjoined Siamese twins, Eng and Chang Bunker, whose grandson owns the campground. We will head out early tomorrow and keep an eye on the weather and decide if we can go all the way to Dothan or stay somewhere on the way.
