Pitch and Putt

November 2, 2019

Went to a breakfast on Tuesday with the Korean veterans group. A few WWII vets and I was surprised by the number, like me, who served in Korea after the armistice in 1953. I joined the group and will see how it works out. On Wednesday we golfed with Gene and Connie at the new pitch and putt course down by Fenney. It has 18 holes with an average length of about 70 yards with only one over 100 yards. It was more fun than expected and great practice for the short game. Thursday was a prep day for a colonoscopy and endoscopy on Friday, enough said. Came through with flying colors with no problems. Today Alesa played water volleyball and I took another day off. I rode my motorcycle to 'Government Day' at the Eisenhower Rec Center. It is an expo with booths from all of the local governmental and support agencies ranging from the Villages garden club (Florida friendly landscaping), thru local municipalities and the FL Park Service to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (investment fraud). Learned a lot but still call it 'free pencil day' for obvious reasons. Went by Lake Okahumpka Park on my way to watch Alesa play and they were having an "Amnesty Day" so I stopped in to see what it was all about. It was a little known hazardous waste collection, so, after watching Alesa play for a bit I rode home and picked up some paint, batteries and electronics we've been collecting and took them down. Not much since it all fit on my motorcycle. Stopped on the way home and took a picture of the new bridge over hwy 44 which will connect to a similar one being built over the Florida turnpike to provide a golf cart connection to Fenney and other villages being built south of here.
