On Wednesday we arrived in Portland for an overnight stay.  We went for drinks at John & Ann Parker’s in Falmouth, Maine (John was away hiking up Mt. Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire).  They have a very nice place right on Casco Bay.  The next day Steve and Laura showed us around downtown Portland and then out to Portland Head Lighthouse, the most photographed lighthouse in Maine.   We then went shopping at LL Bean in Freeport, shopping at Sam’s in Bangor, visited Steve & Laura’s daughter Gretchen, son-in-law Dave and grand-daughter Ingrid in Bangor and then to Grand Lake Stream.  Laura’s sister Betsey and her cousin Marc and his wife Beth from Austin, Texas are also here for the long weekend.  Today’s activities included hikes around GLS and a visit to the history museum.
