Rainbows, Boosters and Stones
Been having a little bit of rain and a beautiful rainbow showed up just behind our house. Talked to our son, Mike, the other day and they got a lot of rain from Ida as it passed. Didn't affect them too much but it really did some damage to the Northeast. Continue to golf and play water volleyball which slows the healing of my bruised ribs but they feel a whole lot better today. Craig and Janet were up today for a bike ride so we loaded up the bikes and took a 10 mile ride in the southern part of the villages. I did stop a little earlier than the rest to watch the beginning of the Penn State-Wisconsin football game on my phone. We did watch Penn State beat Wisconsin as we ate lunch after we got home. Alesa's bike is a lady's model and very cumbersome to load on the bike rack. I ordered a crossbar for it on the 16th and it kept being delayed and it was finally delivered today. But, 20 minutes after we left. Anyway it will be a lot easier and secure the next time we load her bike on the carrier. Although I do wish I shared her passion for bike riding. Got my Pfizer booster shot at the VA on Monday after some confusion. Seems no one told the clinic about the appointments so once it was all sorted out we had to wait for the vaccine to be thawed. The delay actually worked out for me since I received a call while I was waiting to stop by and have my ribs X-Rayed. I stopped over right after and it saved me another trip. No real side effect from the booster except for a slightly sore arm. Was about to give up trying to capture my kidney stone since it's been almost a week but it appeared yesterday so now I know it's fully passed. Maybe this and the picture is too much information but, remember, this blog is primarily a diary so we can remember. On Thursday night I was watching a live stream of my high school's football game at the Erie stadium when, with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter, everyone started running to the north end of the stadium with some diving for cover. The announcers had not idea why and did not hear a shot and then the screen froze. I called my brother who lives a couple of blocks from there and asked if he knew what was going on and recommended they stay inside. The stream started back up and there were police everywhere but the announcers still didn't know what happened. As things were calming down they cancelled the game and signed off. My brother texted me the next day that there was a fight in the stands and someone yelled that shots were fired which started the panic. I watched a newscast on the web and no shots were ever fired and the fight was broken up by school district police using pepper spray before the city police arrived. It is now known as 'The Pepper Spray Game".
