Reno/Sparks, Nevada

We crossed the mountains again today but the road wasn't as steep or winding.  There was a haze all day due to the wildfires near Susanville and it got worse as we got closer.  We couldn't get a good picture of Mount Shasta or of Mount Lassen when we stopped at the volcanic park.  Mt. Lassen is the Mt. St. Helens of 1914 but lost its claim to fame after Mt. St. Helens erupted.   The smoke was especially strong in and around Susanville.  It was like a foggy day but smelled a lot worse.  Today was the first time we have had trouble getting a place to stay.  The first two we called were booked due to the balloon races this weekend.  The one we are in is actually nicer than the others but is a little more than we wanted to pay so we are taking full advantage of the amenities.
