Roar on the Shore

July 15, 2010

Things have been quiet at Lampe except for the weekends.  We have taken the opportunity to clean the trailer, inside and out, and fix a recurring leak over the shower.  It has been hot and humid except for a downpour last Friday.  We went to the mall last week to get a haircut so I could better stand the heat.  On Sunday morning I went fishing with my cousin Frank and his kids and we caught five walleye, all around 29 inches.  The perch were not biting per the fishermen talking on the radios and the other boats we visited.   I took the smallest fish, 22 inches, cleaned it at the campground, Alesa cooked it and we took it to Ryan Brown’s birthday party that evening as an hor d’oeurve.  It was excellent, so nice and fresh.  On Monday they closed the bayfront highway to lay tracks across it to the shipyard.  It took our library commute from 1.5 traffic free miles to about 4 miles through city traffic.  It will probably be closed for about 3 weeks but Alesa still manages to get her books.  On Monday we played 18 at Lakeside in Ripley and stopped to visit Janet who is spending July with her mother.  On Tuesday we picked up two bikes from Fred & Cathy and we had a chance to visit with my old GE boss who lives across the street from them.  Last night we had Bob & Cathy, Jim & Mary Claire, Fred & Cathy and Dan Dudenhoeffer over for dinner.  It was a beautiful night.  This weekend is the “Roar on the Shore” weekend in Erie so the campground is filling up and we are looking forward to a good time.  The latest Whippy Dip flavors of the week have been: Strawberry, Black Raspberry and Blue Moon.
