Sabine Pass, TX

We found out this morning that we will be working on homes in Sabine Pass, TX about 30 miles south of here.  We decided to start work on Monday but visited the house today because we were going to tour Port Arthur and Beaumont today.  The towns are very industrialized for the oil industry- refining and building and supporting the off-shore oil rigs (and fishing too).  There are still a lot of damaged and abandoned homes there as well as many vacant lots.  Not sure how much is due to Katrina or plain old urban industrial blight.  Nonetheless Katrina has left herWe found out this morning that we will be working on homes in Sabine Pass, TX about 30 miles south of here.  We decided to start work on Monday but visited the house today because we were going to tour Port Arthur and Beaumont today.  The towns are very industrialized for the oil industry- refining and building and supporting the off-shore oil rigs (and fishing too).  There are still a lot of damaged and abandoned homes there as well as many vacant lots.  Not sure how much is due to Katrina or plain old urban industrial blight.  Nonetheless Katrina has left her mark.  We stopped at Nederlands on the way back to see the windmill and had some fantastic Crawfish Etouffee for lunch at a local butcher shop & cafe.Sabine 6, 8
