Savannah, Georgia
What a beautiful city and we finally got to see it. The river area, the squares, the trees, the Spanish Moss, the wide streets, the architecture, the history and the obvious pride all combined to provide an unforgettable experience. We started at the Visitors' Center and walked up MLK and then along the river, back to City Hall, down Bull to Forsyth Park, up Abercorn to Liberty then back to the Visitors' Center. We walked through at least half of the 22 squares. We carried the umbrella but it didn't rain until about 10 seconds after we got back in the truck. Perfect timing. We then drove back to the campground through roads all too familiar to Alesa & I due to my accident almost a year ago. Monk and Flat Stanley joined us but they had to be restrained because when we visited the Visitors' Center and the spot where I fell and broke my hip they decided to lay in the road and moan as they contorted their right legs in all kinds of unnatural positions. They were almost run over by a tour bus, not that it would have mattered much to Flat Stanley but Monk would have lost quite a bit of stuffing and Alesa said she was not spending any more time in any type of Savannah hospital. Tomorrow we are planning a day trip to Hilton Head.
