The Schweds come to visit

August 18, 2010

Paul and Becca arrived safely in Kansas on Sunday evening, unpacked in Paul’s new digs and Becca flew home on Tuesday. Tony Ferritto stopped by the trailer for a short visit on Sunday morning after dropping his son-in-law off at the airport. That afternoon at about 3, Ken and Sue Schwed arrived at the Marriott Courtyard in Kearsarge after their trip from Exton. They came down to the trailer for dinner and, after a walk on the South Pier, we gave them a whirlwind ride around Erie and its suburbs pointing out our favorite and not-so-favorite places including homes, schools and workplaces. We picked them up early Monday morning and continued the tour which included Ripley, North East, the TREC center, Presque Isle (the whole thing to include a walk on the beach), Whippy Dip (Blue Moon is the WDFOTW), the Erie Zoo, then to Bob and Cathy’s where we picked up Cathy and took her to dinner with the Schweds at the 3Bs for Beer, Bacon and Barbeque (yummy) and we ended the evening by walking the pier and watching the sun set. Ken and Sue left Tuesday morning to return to Exton via Elmira, NY to visit friends where they lived when they were first married. Bob and Cathy left this morning driving to Kansas and will return Sunday night. They are taking what wouldn't fit or was forgotten on the first trip and, of course, to see the place where their little boy will be spending the next few years of his life. Today I had lunch with four friends from GE and it was fun reliving old times. All but one are retired.
