Sobering Experience
We have been busy golfing nearly every day and Alesa continues to dragon boat 3 times a week. On Thursday, after Alesa's trip to the dentist for a crown, we went to her TBR dragon boat social at the Whispering Oaks winery just west of here. They make blueberry wines. Afterwards we went to the Erie Club meeting where we had Ollie's custard sundaes and played bunco. It is the last meeting until October since most of the members head back to Erie for the summer. The Marshalls have been camping near here for the last week and visited every now and then and they headed back north on Friday. Yesterday we were golfing next to highway 466A when two racing motorcycles caught our attention because they were so loud and fast. As we looked back down to putt we heard a crunch and looked up to see a motorcycle cartwheeling toward us. It stopped just past the tee we had just used after cartwheeling at least 150 yards. We ran back as we called 911 and arrived to see that the young man involved had most likely been killed. Alesa couldn't finish the round thinking of all the sadness the incident would create. She immediately called Jeff to tell him to sell his motorcycle and never ride or let Bailey ride again. On the way home we could see the body bag where he had been lying. This morning's paper verified the death and said that the homicide department was leading the investigation because an involved vehicle had fled the scene. A very sobering experience.
