SoFi Stadium

December 14, 2024

Another busy day as we headed to the Santa Monica pier but first we stopped at Randy’s Donuts, another famous place. Iron Man was sitting in the big donut on the roof eating a donut. I got a maple and bacon covered long john as well as a cinnamon roll and Alesa got a maple cake donut. The donuts were excellent, but the cinnamon roll has to wait. Jeff abstained as well as Dani, she was still in sugar overload from yesterday. We walked the Santa Monica pier and some of the downtown then toured Hollywood on the way to SoFi stadium. We took the mandatory pictures at SoFi before heading to our room at the Embassy Suites by the John Wayne airport before heading to Newport Beach. We could not check-in as their computer system went down earlier in the day. So, we went directly to Newport Beach where we had the best hamburger ever at TK’s just off the pier. Jeff then walked us to Mutt Lynch’s one of his favorite seaside bars. But it was way overcrowded, so we walked the pier. There was something going on in town as it was crowded with young adults celebrating and mostly dressed for Christmas as Santas, Mrs. Santa, elves, reindeer, etc. We then returned to a large check-in queue at the hotel, but their computers were back up. There were a number of kids’ tournaments going on that weekend, so the hotel was crowded with families and lots and lots of kids of all ages. We sat in the atrium and each of us had our two complimentary drinks and used the salad bar and watched kids run around. We went to our rooms and the ladies settled in while Jeff and I went to the pool and hot tub after the kids’ bedtime. I mention the kids but, except for kids being kids, they were pretty well behaved.
