St. Augustine & the Pruners

April 10, 2008

We spoke with Jeff & Sharon the other day and weren't sure if we were going to be able to get together for long because Jeff was on jury duty and was in a trial.  We went to Anastasia State Park yesterday and walked the beach.  Jeff called while we were there and his trial had ended so we had dinner at their house last night.  Today they drove down here and we walked in historic St. Augustine and then drove up A1A to North Beach, ate lunch at the Reef Restaurant, walked the beach and had Bloody Marys at Cap's on the river side of the island.   The beach was interesting because there was a lot of erosion and the beach was made of full and crushed shells with no sand except mixed with the shells on some isolated spots.  It was another great day and tomorrow we move on to Skidaway State Park outside of Savannah.  Bailey has a Flat Stanley ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Stanley ) assignment in school and we wish we had known about him while we were travelling as it would have been great to share with the kids.  We will have to get at least one picture on the blog.
