St. Pete's & Lakeland

March 14, 2010

We left Craig and Janet's on Thursday morning after another wonderful visit.  It finally warmed up on Wednesday so we did get a good walk on the beach before we left.  We arrived in St. Petersburg for a three day visit with Tracy, Annie, Pat, the dog, Mason and the cat who I call Dixon.  They all have their own name for the cat so I figured, why not.  On Friday we toured the town while they went to work and school.  That night we all went to Zach and Cathy's just north of Tampa for a little get together.  Craig and Janet came up from Naples, Lynn and Tony came from Lakeland and Mary Sue (Grandma Niebauer) and Jim also came from Lakeland for a good evening in Zach and Cathy's new home.  We also picked up our mail and my medicine which Jeff had mailed to Zach's from his house on Wednesday.  On Saturday Janet and Craig came down to Tracy's to help pick her grapefruit then Zach and Cathy joined us all at the Wagon Wheel flea market in St. Petes then back to Tracy's for a walk on the beach.  Today we headed off to Lakeland to stay a night with Lynn and Tony.  After lunch and a little road work, not running but patching holes, we all headed off to the Strawberry Festival in Plant City.  We were in separate cars since Lynn and Tony were staying for the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert this evening.   It was a huge festival and sounded like fun but after spending a half an hour caught in traffic with no end in sight we turned on to a neighborhood street and dodged the people waving us into their yards to park for $5, we worked our way back to Lakeland and the more normal insane Florida traffic for lunch, an ice cream cone and to pay our respects at Alesa's dad's grave.
